The Maison de l'Europe ("Europe House") of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region is a public institution founded in December 2017 by the "Conseil régional".

On May 2d 2018, the Maison de l'Europe opened its doors to the general public as a fully Regional institution, combining for the first time the two existing information centres in Dijon and Besançon, which previously operated independently from one another.

The Maison de l'Europe is also active throughout the region, which is unique for such an organisation in France. The team operates outside of the office on a daily basis : our agents meet + 21 000 people every year.

The aim of the centres is to provide a range of content & services, offer to inform people about the EU and communicate European issues. The Maison de l'Europe is committed to this by:

  • creating a place for the citizens of the region to be informed and engage with the EU, as well as providing a wide range of thematic documents

  • promoting, connecting and supporting regional initiatives that actively promote European values and European citizenship

  • organising information and training events for all target groups

  • organising and participating in actions with a European dimension

  • supporting European projects of the Conseil régional Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and its partner organisations.

The Maison de l'Europe is a member of two networks:

  • The "Europe Direct" network of the European Commission, active across the EU, whose mission is to inform citizens and to give people a concrete understanding of the impact of the EU in their region and their daily lives, and to stimulate interest and debate on the ground

  • The "Fédération française des Maisons de l'Europe², which promotes European citizenship and coordinates the various actions organised by the Maisons de l'Europe throughout France.

Examples of our programmes and activities include :

  • Workshops in schools and in the field of informal learning in the form of presentations, playful workshops, role plays (simulation of the European Parliament and Council), quiz competitions and much more.

  • Trips for interested parties, e.g. to Brussels and Strasbourg to visit the institutions

  • City rallies (partly guided) to show people where the EU has a concrete impact on their everyday life and their city

  • Lending exhibitions on various topics related to the EU to schools and other institutions

  • Design of brochures, exhibitions and educational material

... and much more

If you are interested in the EU, why not drop by if you are in the neighbourhood ?
